Inglourious Basterds Trailer Online!

Ooh. Now then. Here’s the first teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s new film Inglourious Basterds. And it’s a doozy.
It’s been a good while since I can say I’ve been excited about anything Quentin Tarantino has been doing. Kill Bill (vol. 1 and vol.2) were a mess. A big, needlessly long mess… not only were they too long, they were… just too crap. It was nothing more than a multi-million dollar licence for QT’s ego to run wild, creating his own pastiche of those cheap, yet resourceful, 70s kung-fu movies. Whether it was appropriation, homage, a rip-off… for me, it simply didn’t work.
Then came Grindhouse. And a nice idea as it was too; as an apology for splitting Kill Bill into two bloated volumes for the sake of doubling the profit (tut tut)… they decided they would show two movies for the price of one. The only problem was, Death Proof – QT’s half of Grindhouse – was awful. A lot of talking, a lot of posturing, and no story. Even the trademark QT dialogue had again seemed weak, purposefully or not. Even worse for UK audiences, the two Grindhouse films were simply split into two separate films in an attempt to make up for terrible box-office performance in the States.
Pulp Fiction, QT’s last great film (Jackie Brown was good, but perhaps not great) was 15 years ago. 15. Years…
The good news is that Inglourious Basterds looks amazing, and dare I say it, ‘kick ass’.
It’s got Brad Pitt back in Tyler Durden mode, literally rallying his troops to commit atrocities against the Nazis. Disembowling, dismemberment, disfigurement… he wants it all.
Attend-hut!

I think Hitler is wearing a cape…but I don’t think that’s his biggest crime.
