Black Swan – Trailer
Posted by Steve Worsley on August 28, 2010
“I had the craziest dream last night that a girl who’s turned into a swan, but her prince falls for the wrong girl & she kills herself.”
Black Swan is psychological thriller set around a production of the ballet Swan Lake featuring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis & Vincent Cassel.
The story focuses on the relationship between the White Swan (Odette) & the Black Swan (Odile). Both parts are usually played by the same person in the ballet. The black swan is created by an evil magician in the image of the white swan to tempt away her prince. However in this production Mila Kunis is brought into to play the black swan opposite Natalie Portman & so tempts her into the darker side of her personality. This is where it all goes a little bit crazy for Portman.
The trailer is a real treat. I knew little about the film just that if it had Natalie Portman staring & Darren Aronofsky at the helm then it had to be good. I was expecting it to be something sport related like the Wrestler but set in the ballet world. (Micky Rourke with a tu-tu? That could be a film in itself!) That was until the part in the trailer where Natalie Portman’s reflection turns round to look at her.

God, I am so stoked for this . As far as I can tell, Aronofsky has never screwed up.
I’m thinkin’ getting Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis to make out in your movie is not an entirely bad way of gaining support either.
Ha, I did think while watching the trailer: “I totally get why they put Portman and Kunis kissing in there.” Also, there seems to be a bit of one-woman bump and grind going on -on a bed. Score.
Does looks super, actually. I think Vincent Cassel is ace. And although I didn’t *love* The Wrestler as much as most other people seemed to, it still showed a lot of class from the director.
Actually, the trailer looks very Lynchian I reckon, which is no bad thing.
Nice post Steve!
Good point… I think it worked for Vicky Cristina Barcelona! But yeah Aronofsky always manages to pull a compelling & original story together. I wasn’t sure about the Fountain. But I think I need to watch it again. I wonder if he’ll be using Clint Mansell for the score again?
Portman looks a bit skinny tho. Maybe ballet-folk do?
Oooo I hope Clint Mansell does the score. I love his stuff. He did an awesome job with the Moon soundtrack too.
